Kusal “Superman” Perera gave the underdogs Sri Lanka a victory over South Africa in the first test at Kingsmead on Saturday.
Perera scored 67 of his runs in an unbeaten 78 run last-wicket stand with Vishwa Fernando which gave Sri Lanka a sensational Victory.
Guptill finds his form against Bangladesh
Martin Guptill turn the tables around as Newzealand clinched their one day series against Bangladesh on Saturday. Guptill recently had disappointing series against India. New Zealand comfortably knocked off their 227- run target for the loss of two wickets and with 13.5 overs to spare. New Zealand cruised to victory and went 2-0 up in the three match series.
Pinaar and Grain joined the other 3 women and hang their boots
Two former captains, Marithy Pienaar and Veoeshka Grain are among the group of five players who have decided to call it a day on their Springbok Women’s sevens career after several seasons of service in the Green and Gold.
Chane Stadler, Megan Comley and Nomsa Mokwai are other players who have decided to step out.
Sarri close to an axe
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will be fighting to save his job when he faces Manchester United in the FA cup fifth round on Monday. Sarri is in danger of being sacked after the dismal first season at Stamford Bridge and crushing out of the FA Cup would push the Italian closer to axe especially after Chelsea suffered their heaviest defeat for 28 years when they were thrashed by Man City 6-0 last weekend and few after they were humiliated 4-0 by Bournemouth.
Still at the FA Cup Manchester City won to Newport Country 4-1 and they advanced to the quarter finals, Wimbledon lost 1-0 to Millwall also on Saturday Brighton advanced to quarter finals for the fourth time in their history as they beat Frank Lampard’s Derby Country 2-1 and on Friday QPR lost at home to Watford with 0-1.
Nedbank Cup kicked off with the bang
The Nedbank cup kicked off on Friday with CapeTown City knocking off Highlands Park with 3-0 Benni’s side cruised to the next round.
Two NFD clubs Cape Umoya and Mbombela played a goal less draw and penalty shootout helped Cape uMoya to advance to the next round. On Saturday Witbank Spurs was eliminated buy Golden Arrows 2-1 and Bloemfontein Celtics won 1-0 to Richards Bay.
Sunday fixture The Magic Fc hosted Kaizer Chiefs and were beaten 3-0 in extra time Jomo Cosmos was beaten at home 1-0 by TS Galaxy and the last fixture on Monday Black Leopards will lock horns with Bidvest Wits.
